Bike Rental vs. Self-Guided Tour: What's the difference?
Bike rentals include a helmet, lock and map.
Our Self-Guided Bike Tour includes a picnic lunch catered by Bouchon Bakery and wine-purchase pick-up service. Gel seat cushion and bottled water are also included.
Can you help me plan a route and book winery appointments?
We do not offer a concierge service to assist Self-Guided Tour guests with planning their itineraries. Rest assured, the Planning Guide you will receive via email upon booking has all of the tools and information you'll need to plan a great day. If you would prefer an experience that's been planned for you, check out our Guided Bike Tours.
How far will we ride?
On a Self-Guided Bike Tour, it's entirely up to you! For casual bikers, we recommend aiming for 3 to 6 miles of biking between stops and cover a total of 12-17 miles. E-Bikes are highly recommended if you plan to cover 15+ miles.
What are the roads like?
Our tour routes include a combination of quieter country roads as well as busier roadways – including some stretches along Hwy. 29 and Silverado Trail where a Class II Bike Lane is present. We also frequently ride along the Napa Valley Vine Trail (car-free bike path).
Click here for a visual guide of our local bicycling infrastructure.
What should I wear?
The wineries don't have dress codes, but we understand you want to blend with other guests. Our advice is to think "smart active" - like you would for a round of golf.
Recommended: Warm layers for cool mornings, shorts or capris, longer pants with tapered/slim fitted legs, flat-soled shoes, sunglasses, sandals (as long as they are secure) - and definitely sunscreen!
Not Recommended: Denim (heavy seams can become uncomfortable), maxi dresses or wide-legged pants (loose clothing can get caught in the chain or spokes), wedge heels, flip flops, mules.
Can you accommodate my dietary restriction?
Definitely! Bouchon Bakery's seasonal menu always includes a vegetarian option that can be modified for vegans. Vegan lunch orders include an apple instead of a baked dessert. Bouchon Bakery does not offer gluten-free bread. A gluten-free salad option is available and comes with a gluten-free dessert. If you have more specific needs, please reach out to us.
How much should I tip my Van Support?
We recommend $5 per travel party per service need. For example, if your Van Support delivered your lunch and picked up wine from two wineries for you, a $15 tip is a nice gesture.
What's your cancellation policy?
Full prepayment is required to confirm your reservation. If you need to cancel, a minimum 48 hours notice is required and a $10 per person fee will apply before refund. In lieu of refund, you can request a full-credit Gift Card to reschedule for a future date.
What if it's raining?
We tour rain or shine. Rain is extremely rare from May through October. We can supply rain jackets to ward off light sprinkles.
At 24 hours prior to tour Meet Time: If the hourly rain forecast during the hours of tour is 50% or greater, you have the option to cancel and receive a refund less $10/person cancellation fee. We can also issue a full-credit Gift Card (no expiration) if you'd prefer to reschedule for a future date.
