Cabernet Season Bike Tours

What is Cabernet Season?
Once the grapes are harvested and the temperatures are perfectly mild, the pace of the Napa Valley slows down and a more intimate atmosphere emerges, creating personal experiences and a chance to explore all the culture the valley has to offer. Rest assured, while we’ve taken to calling this time of year Cabernet Season, it’s a great time to visit and enjoy all of your favorite wine varietals.

TOUR OVERVIEW

Our Classic Half-Day Bike Tour is popular for good reason: You’ll enjoy the unique experience of bicycling through wine country – visiting two local wineries for tastings – and still finish early enough to make other plans for your afternoon!

You’ll join a small group (limited to 12 guests) led by a local, knowledgeable Tour Guide who’s there to enhance your education of the “vine-to-bottle” process.

Before you get rolling, your Tour Guide will ensure that you’re completely comfortable with the fit and handling of your bike. And within the first mile or so, you’ll find the pace of our guided bike tours is definitely catered to casual riders, not cyclists. You’ll average just 3-6 miles of pedaling between visits to local two local wineries and/or tasting rooms.

After your bike tour concludes in Yountville at ~2-2:30pm, you’re welcome to keep your bikes if you want to do some additional riding on your own. Be sure to ask your Tour Guide to recommend a scenic country backroad to explore or for a winery to visit within 2-3 miles of Yountville. Bikes must be returned by shop close at 5:00 p.m.

Note: On rare occasions when there are 4 or fewer guests signed up for the Classic Half-Day Bike Tour, this tour may be combined with the Full-Day Napa Valley Bike Tour for the first two winery visits. Following the tasting at second winery, Half-Day Bike Tour guests will be given the option to ride back self-guided or a complimentary van shuttle will be provided back to Yountville.

Post-Tour Lunch Options

Many of our half-day tour guests ask us where they should plan to grab a bite after the bike tour concludes in Yountville. Here’s a roundup of our favorite casual local lunch options (walking distance from our shop).

TOUR OVERVIEW

Our Full-Day Bike Tour is an extension of the Half-Day that begins with a delicious picnic lunch served at a local winery overlooking the vineyards.

Don’t let the idea of a “Full-Day” tour intimidate you. We keep the riding distance to just 3 to 6 miles between each stop for a total of ~15 miles (~90 minutes total ride time) over the course of the day. The biking pace is catered to casual riders, not cyclists, so the experience is designed to be accessible for anyone with a moderate level of fitness.

Following your second tasting, you’ll enjoy a wine country picnic served on the winery grounds overlooking the vineyards. Lunch includes a delicious assortment of artisan sandwiches including turkey-brie, Sonoma chicken salad and roast beef with tomato chutney, accompanied by green salad, fresh fruit, olives, baguette and garlic dip.

Discover One of Yountville’s Unique Tasting Rooms

On the Full-Day Tour, our third wine-tasting stop often (though not always) features one of our favorite tasting rooms in the town of Yountville. The tasting rooms we visit not only have great wines, but also offer our guests a personally hosted seated tasting experience – making it a relaxing way to finish the day.

Note: On rare occasions when there are 4 or fewer guests signed up for the Classic Half-Day Bike Tour, those guests may be combined with the Full-Day Bike Tour for a total of up to 12 guests at the first two winery visits. Half-Day Bike Tour guests will depart after the tasting at second winery (before lunch). A maximum of 8 guests will stay on for the picnic lunch, followed by third tasting at a winery or a tasting room in Yountville.

ABOUT THE WINERIES

When you’re looking for world-class wines, the Napa Valley boasts an embarrassment of riches. But when it comes to finding a wine tasting experience that stands apart, a warm and welcoming tasting room team who exude a sincere eagerness to share their knowledge makes all the difference.

In this spirit, the overall tasting room experience – and especially the people you’ll meet there – predominantly determines which wineries or tasting rooms you’ll visit on tour with us.

Tasting appointments are finalized 5-6 days ahead of your bike tour.

If you are concerned about duplicating visits, please let us know about any existing appointments you have made, so we can avoid those wineries on your bike tour: info@napavalleybiketours.com
